Description:

A medium-sized Sylvia, quite slim, with rather large head and long tail. Larger and longer-tailed than Lesser, with broad, well-defined, sandy-brown to pale rufous-brown fringes to greater coverts and tertials, pale base to lower mandible, and orange-brown to pale brown (not grey) legs and feet.


Distribution:

Common passage migrant through the central parts of Gilgit-Baltistan, rare in Ghizer, Astore and Baltistan. Favors open country scattered with bushes and shrubs close to grassy patches; avoids densely vegetated areas, up to 2500m during passage.


Behavior:

Forages mainly in bushes and other low vegetation, taking items mostly from leaves and twigs; occasionally catches insects in flight or on ground. Invertebrates diet throughout year, include large number of insect orders and also other arthropods; fruits increase in significance outside breeding season, being particularly important during autumn migration and sometimes also in winter.
